Over the last 43 years, the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall has presented a Who's Who in Entertainment from headliners and touring Broadway to Orchestra, Dance and educational performances. Set along the beautiful bayfront, Sarasota's performing arts Crown Jewel serves the diverse audiences of Sarasota and Manatee Counties, the greater Suncoast area, as well as national and international tourists and visitors. With brand new seating (capacity 1,745), latest in sound and lighting systems, an Education Center, and stunning Grand Foyer, the Hall is completely compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and is owned and operated by the City of Sarasota. The Hall is also the first theater in Sarasota to install the revolutionary Hearing Loop System(complements the existing Sennheiser Infrared Listening System) for those who suffer from hearing loss. The hearing loop is the only system that transmits performers' voices from a microphone directly into a hearing aid or cochlear implant equipped with telecoils, allowing wearers to use hearing aids as wireless loudspeakers. The incorporation of this technology truly creates the opportunity for the Van Wezel to provide the performing arts experience.
